If you ask any Steam fan out there what the biggest sequel of all time should be from Valve 100% of answers will be Half Life 3. The Interwebs have been calling for this game since the beginning of time, and while Valve has been pretty much mum on the subject, could DOTA2 be the reason we have not seen HL3 come to life yet? DOTA2, both developed and published by Valve, is the sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA). The game started out in a beta testing phase that began in 2011 with a Windows Steam client release on July 9th 2013. OSX and Linux versions came out a week or so later. While the public beta started in 2011 as noted, design, alpha building and testing, among other steps to get this out the door, would have started much earlier. It stands to reason that DOTA2 put on hold what many believe to be the biggest game never officially announced by Valve, HL3. What do you think? Do you think once DOTA2 reaches what Valve considers a fully stable status could we see development of Half Life 3 actually start?
